How does the key exchange take place?

Many new home swappers wonder how they should exchange keys with their guests. There are several solutions to this.

Purchase an outdoor lockbox: Lock boxes are a low-cost method of handing over keys. They give your guests access to the keys when no one is present to greet them. This is an excellent choice if you intend to participate in a large number of home swaps, live in a rural area, or are planning a SandDollar Swaps or non-simultaneous swaps. • Leave with neighbour or family member: This is the most simple and cost-effective option for swap hosts, after you take into account a thank you bottle of wine! Ensure that you and your guests can reach your trusted key-provider in advance and on time. • Post a spare key to your guests ahead of time: Another cost-effective method of exchanging keys is to mail a spare key to your guests ahead of time. That way, when your guests arrive at your home (especially if they have travelled a long distance), there will be no hiccups and they will be able to get inside and relax after a long journey. • Consider using a key exchange service: There is an increase in key exchange providers. It is completely up to you to search for this service based on your location and choose one that is cost-effective and convenient for you.
